Sadhana West Yoga Studio is located at 361 2nd Ave., Suite 102, Niwot, Colorado 80544-1164, in Old Town.
The studio is dedicated to bringing the full practice of yoga to the students, not just the asanas (postures). It is our belief that the addition of the other fundamental practices, including pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation, brings the practice of yoga to a deeper level.
Our hope is that a sense of community will develop among the people who choose to practice at the studio. We want to avoid a "competitive yoga" environment, and allow everyone to grow within their own practice.
Currently, all the graduated level classes are taught by Katherine "Kitty" Moore. The former director of the Connecticut Yoga Center, Kitty has been a full time yoga teacher for 12 years. She has several Iyengar-based certifications including two 200 hour certifications with Patty Townsend (The Center For Yoga, Amhearst) and Kim Valeri (YOGASpirit Studios), and is currently working toward her certification in Para Yoga with her current teacher, Rod Stryker. She practices and teaches yoga as a science of self-realization that leads to a joyous life and ultimate freedom. Her classes are Tantra based and a deep but playful mix of asana, bandha, kriya, mantra, pranayama and meditation.
The studio is owned by Steve Wolk, an 11 year yoga practitioner who has trained with a broad spectrum of teachers, including Rod Stryker, John Friend, and Richard Freeman. Steve has a Ph.D. in chemistry, and works as a research scientist. He has also studied martial arts for over twenty five years, and holds a sixth degree black belt in Filipino eskrima and a second degree black belt in Cuong Nhu Oriental Martial Arts.He is a six time international champion in full contact eskrima, and has competed on three continents.
This yoga studio is the first step in Steve and Kitty's vision for Sadhana West. The long term plan includes classes and training in a broad range of spiritual pursuits.
